A NOTE FROM AMY

I’m excited to announce that I’m running for a seat on the Board of Directors at the Raleigh Regional Association of REALTORS®, and it would be an honor to have your vote! ✅

At 52, I’m stepping into this new chapter of life with renewed energy and purpose. Hailing from Nashville, NC, I’m blessed with a supportive husband, Derek Proffit, and two wonderful children, Caya and Kaleb. As a Realtor with Raleigh and Beyond Real Estate, LLC, and the owner of Taking Shape Renovations, LLC, I’m passionate about helping people transform their homes across the Greater Raleigh Area.

My love for real estate began when my husband and I renovated our first home in the Mordecai neighborhood. This experience ignited my passion for renovations, which grew further during my time with Freeman & Associates, where I gained valuable experience in commercial uplifts and project management. Later, I embarked on my first house flip—a dream that was interrupted by a breast cancer diagnosis. Despite the challenges, I earned my real estate license while recovering from a double mastectomy, continued my journey in real estate, and expanded my renovation business.

In recent years, I’ve earned several designations, served on multiple committees, and co-chaired the Sustainability Task Force, which led to the creation of the Sustainability Committee for 2025. All the while, I’ve been dedicated to growing my business and helping clients create homes they love.

Now, I’m ready to take the next step by serving on the Board of Directors at RRAR. I’m driven by a passion for leadership, teamwork, and continuous education, and I believe in the importance of integrity and stewardship within our industry. I’m excited to be a catalyst for positive change and to contribute to the future of our community.

Spotlight on Amy Taylor: Championing Sustainability in Real Estate

Amy Taylor, alongside her colleague Ashley Rummage, has been at the forefront of driving sustainability within the Raleigh Regional Association of Realtors®. Their dedication and innovative efforts have earned them the prestigious EverGreen Award from the National Association of Realtors (NAR), a recognition given to exceptional Green designees who actively engage in promoting green services to both professionals and consumers.

Amy’s journey began on the Professional Development Committee in 2023, where she played a key role in organizing a groundbreaking Sustainability Summit. This event provided members with valuable insights on listing, marketing, and valuing solar homes, showcased eco-friendly products through a vendor fair, and featured a panel discussion on high-performance homes and green building practices.

Building on the summit’s success, Amy and Ashley led the formation of the Sustainability Exploration Task Force. As Co-Chairs, they were instrumental in advocating for the creation of a dedicated Sustainability Committee. Their leadership and vision helped shape the task force’s objectives, membership, and funding strategy.

Under Amy’s guidance, the task force developed an extensive plan for sustainability education and events. Key initiatives included the Green Designation Class, a Net Zero/Energy Efficient Homeowners Panel, and the High Performance Home Tour. The unanimous approval by the RRAR Board to establish the Sustainability Committee in 2025 is a testament to Amy and Ashley’s hard work and dedication, paving the way for the committee to support over 10,000 members, their clients, and the broader community.

In a recent interview, Amy reflected on her motivation to spearhead the Sustainability Summit and the upcoming committee. She expressed her passion for sustainability and her belief that the real estate industry can greatly benefit from being informed and knowledgeable in this area. Despite facing challenges and initial resistance, Amy remained committed to her goal, emphasizing that perseverance and collaboration were key to making the Sustainability Committee a reality.

Looking ahead, Amy has ambitious goals for the committee. She envisions a future where more Realtors earn their GREEN Designation, resources are readily available to support sustainable practices, and the Sustainability Summit becomes an annual highlight. She is determined to leverage NAR’s Sustainability Toolkit to further integrate sustainable practices at RRAR from various angles, ensuring a holistic approach to sustainability.

Congratulations to Amy Taylor for her well-deserved recognition! Her passion, leadership, and unwavering commitment to sustainability have laid a strong foundation for future initiatives within the Raleigh Regional Association of Realtors®. We eagerly anticipate the continued positive impact she will have on promoting sustainability and green practices in the real estate industry.
